Walter Bencini is owner and
president of Insekt Television Productions, a full-service
production company based in Tuscany. Since 1995, Bencini and
the Insekt staff have shot, edited and produced cultural and
historical programs presented on European networks and satellite
channels, including RAI, Tele +, RAI 3, Rete 4, Rai Sat Art,
Rai Sat Cinema, MTV Italia, AND KRONOS, RTL (Germany), and
TF1 (France).
Among Insekt’s most recent productions: Architects
of The 20th Century, a series profiling European architects
such as Willem de Kooning and Helmuth Hentrich (RAI 1); Gaudì’s
Barcellona (RAI 3); Degenerate Cinema(RAI SAT Cinema),
a candid portrait of Italy’s erotic film industry; and The
Celluloid Pencil(RAI SAT Cinema), a profile of illustrator
Silvano Campeggi, whose bold style graced some of Hollywood’s
most memorable film posters. In 2003, he served as editor on
the five-part series, The Church in the Third Millenium presented
on RAI International. Bencini directed, produced and edited a
series of government-sponsored programs on historical landmarks
in the Tuscan province of Arezzo, and has also shot and directed
commercials for European advertising agencies. His work as videographer
and editor is frequently seen on Gambero Rosso, Italy’s
food and lifestyle cable network. |

Gia Marie Amella Gia is a writer, producer and director who divides her time between Chicago and Montevarchi, Tuscany. Her recent credits include the first international episode of The Weather Channel’s Storm Stories series, premiering later this year on National Geographic International, and a half-hour episode of HGTV’s New Spaces, including a stint as its interim managing producer.
Among her other credits, Child’s Play, Deadly Play, a one-hour episode of American Justice, A&E’s critically acclaimed crime series hosted by Bill Kurtis, Colorado Blizzard for TWC’s Storm Stories, and The German Americans, an episode of WLIW-TV’s award-winning American Heritage series seen on PBS nationwide, the second highest-grossing pledge program in the station’s history. Her award-winning Serving with Dignity, a candid profile of the world of waitresses, aired on the long-running PBS series We Do the Work. She served in various roles on programs airing on The History Channel (This Week In History), Fox Family Network (Real Scary Stories), The Learning Channel (Disaster Detectives), PBS affiliates KQED-San Francisco (Jacque Pepín's Cooking Techniques, Green Means, Hidden Cities of San Francisco) and KCSM-San Mateo (Hidden Sanctuary, A Higher Education), and briefly ventured into broadcast news at KGO-TV (ABC).
